"If I had my life to live over again, I would have made a rule to read some poetry and listen to some music at least once every week."

Charles Darwin.

The Autobiography of Charles Darwin, 1809–82

Writing Poetry

I write this poem

with a rose stem pen

thorns cutting

the curve between

my thumb and forefinger

so blood drips

onto the words

on the page

but then from

the unfolding petals

a ladybird

explores her way out

and dances with my fingers

NEWS:

This is going to be a busy week!

Sorry I have been away for so long, everything gets a bit crazy around Christmas time and then I got busy getting a new job and hunting for a new car.

Well now it's time to get back down to business.

This week I will be attending a poetry reading by Jo Colley at Teesside University on Tuesday to hear her read from her new collection out now with Smokestack Books.

On Wednesday I will be giving a poetry performance at Tuned In in Redcar as part of the Intercity Flow project which I have been asked to take part in.
Come along to watch me perform.  More details here!
And on Thursday I will be joining the other poets performing with me on Wednesday night at a symposium at Teesside University to discuss our creative process.  If you want to come and talk t ome about poetry, or anything else, then get yourself there.
Information can be found here!
